The importance of green energy and solar technology became popular in the United States in 2006. Advanced Green Technologies (AGT) had the goal of informing key audiences of the advances in solar energy and their ability to provide solar roofs throughout the United States in 2007 by engaging Malkus Communications Group. Our firm has initiated media strategies for AGT which has resulted in national and international news significant coverage during the past five years.
Advanced Green Technology provides solar energy at all levels of the market through engineering, procurement and construction. Through strategic planning, Malkus Communications Group has placed ongoing news media coverage in newspapers and television reports. The key strategies for AGT’s news coverage included solar projects where governmental officials and targeted audiences would become involved with the introduction of solar roofs.
Initially, featured stories included NBC’s Kerry Sanders with reports on technology and wind resistance. Then, Florida Governor Charlie Crist introduced the state’s largest solar roof and the benefits both from an environmental standpoint and cost savings during a campaign which ran in December, 2007 and resulted stories by the Associated Press with coverage throughout the United States and internationally.
The engagement of Gov. Crist continued through 2009, when he agreed to unveil one of the largest University solar roofs in the country at Florida Atlantic University and spread the success stories of Advanced Green Technologies. National and international news coverage included Gov. Crist with engineering students who expressed the importance of solar energy. This campaign was followed by AGT installing a solar roof for the new Junior Achievement building on the campus of Broward College.
In March, 2010, AGT completed the first solar residential roof in Miami-Dade County for the Beard family. This three-bedroom house solar project was began through a partnership with the CBS charity, Neighbors 4 Neighbors and initiated by the Miami-Dade Police Department. AGT agreed to provide the solar roof pro-bono since the two senior citizens had served as long-time volunteers for the police department and community.
During the past three years, Advanced Green Technologies has received significant news coverage for their sponsorship of a solar-powered car project with South Plantation High School. The students designed the solar car with the support of AGT engineers and recently captured first prize at the Texas Motor Speedway. The students’ story has received coverage throughout the country.
In August, 2011, AGT’s parent company, Advanced Roofing, received international media coverage for helping to rebuild in the hurricane-damaged Caribbean areas. Additionally, company President Rob Kornahrens, a co-founder of RoofConnect was featured in industry publications with the largest roofing network in the United States.
Malkus Communications Group continues to achieve media coverage for both AGT Advanced Roofing through strategic message including community partnerships and the engagement of elected officials.
